MGX Mode Switching Guide

MGX now offers Engineer Mode and Team Mode, so you can balance speed, cost, and functionality according to your needs.

Mode Overview

Engineer Mode

  • Single agent: Activate engineer agent @Alex only.

  • Fast & efficient: Focused on simple website development and other lightweight tasks; get prototypes or demos faster.

  • Low credit usage: Save more credits for the same prompts.

Team Mode

  • Multi-agent: Invoke multiple agents to collaborate, meeting complex or general requirements.

  • Broader scenarios: Supports more output types and scenarios such as market research, data analysis, etc.

  • Higher credit usage: With multi-agent support and richer functionality and outputs, it also consumes more credits.

How to Use

  1. Switch Mode

    • Click the Mode Switch button at the bottom-left of the input box on the homepage.

    • Choose Engineer or Team in the pop-up menu.

    • New chats will remember your selection.

  2. Mode Lock

    • Mode switching is only available before a chat starts; once the chat begins, you cannot change the mode.
  3. Remix Inheritance

    • Whether you remix your own project in Workspace or a project in App World, the new chat inherits the mode of the original project.
  4. View Chat Mode

While browsing in App World, you can view the mode (Engineer or Team) used by each project in the tag bar on its detail page.

Usage Scenarios

Engineer Mode Example

Ideal for lightweight, fast-paced tasks like designing the home page cover of a personal portfolio website. In Engineer Mode, MGX responds quickly and uses fewer credits, allowing you to generate wireframes and copy in seconds.

Team Mode Example

Suited for end-to-end workflows—from research and planning to implementation—such as developing a new product concept with market analysis, feature planning, and UI design. Team Mode leverages multiple agents to produce comprehensive, detailed solutions; it takes more time and credits but meets complex requirements.
